There’s nothing quite like New York City in the summer. And getting to experience it through your kids’ eyes for the very first time? Even better. This summer, I headed east with my family for a quintessential New York adventure and the kids’ very FIRST trip to NYC. We packed a lot into a few days, ate extremely well, walked approximately one million steps, and got to play tourist in a city that never seems to run out of things to see.

We packed in a few NYC classics along the way. The Museum of Ice Cream was pure kid heaven - colorful, over-the-top, and just the right amount of sugar-fueled chaos. We balanced that out with a very civilized afternoon tea at The Plaza because when in New York! And no trip would be complete without a visit to The Met, wandering through centuries of art and history and giving the kids a little culture between all the ice cream and shopping.

And then there was Luca’s very first concert: Jay-Z at Yankee Stadium! Watching one of New York’s most iconic artists perform at one of the city’s most iconic venues felt like the ultimate NYC moment. Safe to say, we may have set the bar a little too high for Luca’s future concert-going career.

And because apparently New York City alone wasn’t enough sightseeing for one trip, we ended our East Coast adventure with the obligatory pilgrimage to Niagara Falls. Touristy? Absolutely. Worth it? Also absolutely. It's really is as impressive as everyone says.
