East Coast Moments With Erica

Fresh from a trip to Cape Cod, we sat down with our favorite collaborator.

And got endless inspo from her #DIY Knotty Rope Kit creations.

A "more is more" devotee, Erica Chan Coffman (of HonestlyWTF) and Ariel are a perfect match.
Partners in our forever fun Knotty Rope Kit collab, their endless creativity and desire to #DIY make everything more fun—and let everyone else in on their creations.
While poring over her pics from a Summer trip to Cape Cod, we talked to Erica about the most recent AGJ x HWTF launch, what's exciting her, and everything she's dreaming of right now.

What was the inspiration behind this second edition of AGJ x HWTF?

We've loved seeing the continued excitement around our Knotty Rope kits and wanted to release some new colorways that felt a little richer and more sophisticated—colors that transition perfectly into Fall!

Was there some significance in the colors you chose?
Ariel and I are definitely influenced by our own passions and experiences when designing the kits. For example, Match Point was inspired by my love of tennis and Dude Ranch was inspired by our shared love of the American West and country music.

What's your favorite thing you've created with the Knotty Rope Kits?
I think I love the bag straps the most. They take more time and skill but the straps really add that special something to a bag.

What's a good beginner move for someone just diving into their first rope kit? Or in need of some new inspiration?
If there is only one knot to master, it's the sliding knot. It's the most versatile knot and you can do endless things with it!!

What role does DIY and hands-on crafting play in your life today?
I'm always inspired by jewelry because it's what I love styling and wearing the most. But I'm also always looking out for new home projects too!

Have you seen any surprising ways your community has used the kits so far?
I've seen some really inventive and impressive bag straps. They're a great way to show off a combination of knots!

The kits (and colors) scream Summer. How do you plan on wearing them seamlessly into Fall (or better yet, yearround!)?

We intentionally chose colors that could transition into Fall—brown is huge for Fall so we incorporated the best brown cord (a personal favorite) in Dude Ranch. I've been wearing it all Summer but will definitely be carrying it into Fall!
