We've partnered once more with Erica Chan Coffman.

Our DIY Knotty Rope Kits are a design dream come true, partnering once again with our forever #agjgirlcrush Erica Chan Coffman of Honestly WTF. Born out of years of friendship and a shared passion for crafting, this latest outing is another chance to get to know this longtime friend of AGJ—and endless source of #inspo.

To celebrate the launch, we caught up with Erica, asking her to share the story of her friendship with Ariel, her favorite pieces to make, and how she's wearing her latest creations.

How did you and Ariel first meet?
Our friendship dates back to over a decade ago. Since Ariel moved to the Bay Area, we've been able to spend more time together and auspiciously, been able to ideate on collaborations such as these.

How did crafts like these become your signature?
My background in jewelry runs deep so it's no surprise that jewelry DIYs have become my signature. I love the challenge of learning new methods and teaching others to do the same but in the most non-intimidating way possible. I find just as much joy making jewelry as I do wearing it!

What elements of AGJ (or Ariel herself) feel like a fit for HWTF?
I always love collaborating with Ariel. We have a shared passion for color, pattern and of course, jewelry. We also share the same mantra "More is more is more is better!" which makes designing together effortless and seamless but best of all, FUN!

How did you get the inspiration to work with the knotty rope? Do they draw on any specific references for you?
A few years ago, I went on an epic adventure, sailing the Greek islands. I was enamored with all the knots and lines using colorful marine ropes and have been obsessed with the material ever since. I love that something so durable and utilitarian can be turned into something so beautiful and decorative.

What's your favorite piece to make with the kit?
My favorite thing to make (and wear) is the bag strap. It's so fun to be able to customize it in so many ways - and it's so sturdy!! The bag straps give new life and personality to just about any bag.

How have you incorporated the pieces you've made into your day to day?
I recently returned from Portugal, where I was never without a stack of rope bracelets and anklets. I used the crossbody phone lanyard almost daily and wore a single crossbody bag with interchangeable bag straps. I was able to really put the accessories to the test on the ultimate summer vacation!
