We recently hosted an afternoon at Esters with some of our favorite LA brands as a way to celebrate women entrepreneurs and showcase the thoughtfully made products each of us create. Our guests were sharp, interesting, trend setting women in their own right; stylists, designers, photographers, florists, mothers, interior designers, the most crush-worthy women around.

LE FEU DE L'EAU - @lefeudeleau
Jo Strettell and Wendy Polish have been friends since 1998. With their knowledge of art, beauty & fragrance they created a high end candle line called LE FEU DE L’EAU (which translates as The Fire Of The Water) inspired by the “fantasy candle” of the late 60’s. The candles are created without using a mold. They are sculpted with the use of water. #lefeudeleau
Krystal Chang Projects - @solsticecanyon
Krystal Chang Projects is an emerging studio practice that provides design services for spaces, landscapes, and flowers. Working across these disciplines provides a means of engaging completely different scales of time, from the ephemeral bloom of a flower to the years-in-the-making of a house and the perpetual coming-into-being of a landscape. Krystal Chang Projects also encompasses small-scale residential and commercial landscape and architecture design. With a focus on plants that are drought-tolerant, natives, and edibles, she creates outdoor spaces that are meant to be lived in, not just looked at. Krystal Chang grew up in the San Fernando Valley and now lives and works in Santa Monica. #krystalchangprojects
Block Shop - @blockshoptextiles
Block Shop is a textile company that marries the traditional Indian hand block printing process with a modern California aesthetic. Block Shop Textiles is a collaboration between sisters Hopie and Lily Stockman in Los Angeles and the Chipa family of printers and dyers in Bagru, Rajasthan. Their entire process is manual: design on paper, print with wooden blocks, and dye in small batches – the same way it’s been done in India for more than three centuries. No two textiles are exactly alike
Sugar paper - @sugarpaperla
Chelsea Shukov and Jamie Grobecker believe that personal stationery makes a deep, lasting impression. These close friends and graphic designers founded Sugar Paper in 2003. With a nod to the simplicity and nostalgia of letterpress printing, the mission of Sugar Paper is simple: to design exquisite social stationery that would be a distinctive stamp of style for their chic clientele, and shine a spotlight on a beautiful and underappreciated art form. “Sugar Paper is more than luxurious stationery. It is a statement about one’s individual style.
